Project Date: 2007-2008 Approached by the Information Technology office of City Hall near the end of 2007, the Urban Simulation Team was asked to produce a 3D model of the public areas of the interior of Los Angeles City Hall as part of a pilot project. The intention for the model's development was two-fold. First, in order to develop web content that would help those seeking the various departments housed within City Hall to more easily locate the offices or services associated with their business or request. Secondly, as a function of City Hall's intranet, the model would be used to map emergency evacuation egress from locales throughout the building's interior to safe refuge areas outside the building that could be used for emergency event scenerio planning. The team had created the original exterior City Hall building model as part of a previous UST project at the time of City Hall's renovation and retrofitting. |
