At the request of Ron Deaton, head of the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power at the time, the Urban Simulation Team built an existing condition model of the DWP operations and maintenance site located west of the 110 freeway at the intesection of 2nd Street and Beaudry. The site was being considered for construction of a large capacity chilled water container and cooling towers which would aid the cooling of city buildings during peak energy usage.
