Exposition Park - Figueroa Corridor

Project Date: 2006-2007

As a result of a contract with the Community Redevelopment Agency of the City of Los Angeles, the Urban Simulation Team at UCLA constructed a real-time 3D model of the Exposition/University Park redevelopment project area in an effort to provide the context for developers and city agencies to visualize projects within the project area's boundries. The intent of the visual database is to provide stakeholders (residents, urban planners, developers, and other interested parties) with a real-time, interactive model of any location within the project area which can be used to both spur development and evaluate it.

Area landmarks within the project area include the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum, the Los Angeles Sports Arena, the California Science Center, the Los Angeles County Natural History Museum, and the Figueroa Boulevard Corridor.

Completion of the Exposition/University Park model has already proven fruitful as a valuable tool for the planning purposes of the Expo Rail Authority and the first phase of the Expo Rail light rail line which will run just north of Exposition Park including two light rail stations to be completed in 2010.

With high praise from the CLA and Council District 8, the contract was recently amended to produce models of two nearby redevelopment project areas, the Crenshaw Amended and Western Slauson Redevelopment Areas.
