The
$33-million Braude Constituent Services Center is part of Mayor James K.
Hahn’s “TeamWork L.A.” plan for improving access to city
services by creating neighborhood government centers. This new facility
includes ground-floor retail stores, and existing City of Los Angeles departments
including: Planning, Transportation, Building and Safety, the Bureau of
Engineering, the City Clerks office, and the City Attorney. It will also
have offices for the local councilperson and the Mayor. Designed by Snyder
Langston (www.snyder-langston.com).
In the fall of 2002, The Urban Simulation Team was commissioned to build
a model of the Van Nuys Civic Center so that decision makers could analyze
the new center’s connection to the historic Van Nuys City Hall built
in 1932 and proposed underground parking facilities on the site. |
